The Salmina Family
"NEW LARKMEAD WINERY IS COMPLETED: The handsome and substantial stone wine cellar was just completed for F. Salmina & Co., one of the most prominent winemaking firms in Napa County."
~ St. Helena Star, February 15, 1907
In the 1860s, the Salmina family moved from Switzerland to the Napa Valley, bringing their winemaking experience to the growing wine region. They established the 'Larkmead Vineyards' business in 1895, and in 1906, F. Salmina & Co. expanded the wood winery into a larger, grander stone structure.
