"Our 2002 Estate Merlot has a dark ruby red color, which leads to powerful aromas of black cherry, liquorice, charcoal and violet. Sweet dark fruit dominates the palate with complex notes graphite, roasted meat and a stony mineral quality. The mid-palate is dense, chewy and is supported by powerful and assertive mouth-coating tannins and solid acidity, which extend the wine's length creating a sense of balance and integration.
The product of a dream growing season and low cropping mature vines, this is unquestionably our finest Merlot to date. The addition of small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot elevates the aromatics and brings a sense of elegance to the wine's texture. Decant for an hour in its youth to experience the wine's full range of flavors. This large-scaled wine will improve for 4 to 5 years in bottle and hold for a decade."
