"Our first red wine release of the exciting 2010 vintage is this beautifully drinkable, traditionally-styled vineyard blend. The wine strikes a gorgeous balance between classic Larkmead style and irresistible fruit-driven approachability. It's a wine that will deliver a great deal of pleasure on release but has the balance to age for up to a decade. It's this balance between rich fruit, soft tannin and fresh acidity that is really at the core of the wine's appeal. Each individual grape variety and vineyard parcel plays its own part in the wine's make up, but true to form with this magnificent piece of land, it's the vineyard signature itself that lingers &mdash the wine echoes on your palate long after the final sip - always a sign of a fine complex wine. My tasting bottle was richer, fuller, and even more expressive from the re-corked bottle the following evening &mdash a sure sign that there's more development ahead.
Good full dark color. Real complexity of aroma: blueberry, cassis, cedar, sweet tobacco, leather and mint with a subtle balsamic note. Soft, lilting elegance on the palate. Initially red-fruited but darkens significantly with air - blackcurrant, kirsch then cocoa powder and subtle mocha. Nice energy and dimension to the back end with soft enveloping tannins and some fresh detailed acidity to finish. Building richness as it sits in the glass."
